Hello, and welcome to my site.
My name is Charles Simeon Gaunt, I was born in Guildford, England, in 1975.
I studied English Literature at what is now Queen Mary University of London, and then went on to do a Masters’ at the University of Liverpool.
These days I work for the National Health Service in learning and development, spending most of my office hours as either a leadership coach or a coaching/leadership skills tutor.
But when I’m not in the office or the classroom, I write.
Right now I’m writing the Kate Altaris series.

Statement on AI Use
So every creative has to make a statement on AI use these days, right?
This is where you’ll be expecting me to say that I think AI is evil incarnate - encoded? - and to pledge that I don’t use it at all now and never ever will.
I would, however, prefer to be honest, so:
I do not now - and never will - use AI to write for me. Every word that you read in any of my books was, and always will be, written by me and me alone.
However I do use AI for the following purposes:
Graphics and images - I can’t draw myself and I haven’t made enough money from writing yet to be able to afford a human artist, although I do do all the fine tuning myself.
Workshopping ideas - I have so many, and my wife is only so patient.
Critique (sometimes) - to check if something I’ve written is actually any good (again, my wife, friends and colleagues are only so patient).
